The Sphinx

After an extended rest in the mansion, the party asked Marovic to report back to Richard everything that had transpired. With that taken care of, they headed for the Mountain of the White Plume.

Arriving there after a couple days of uneventful travel, they found an old metal staircase descending into a hot, humid cave. Rudy cautiously descended and found a long hallway, with a foot of mucky water in it. This would make all movement difficult. Following the hallway, they came to a four way intersection with a large Sphinx guarding it. Ekeraath was able to easily solve his riddle and the party gained access to the corridor to their right.

My creator wants me not,
And much in dread will I be bought.
My cold embrace is fiercely fought,
Most all who need me know it not.

As everyone splashed through the muck, except for Leenia who had invoked a walk on water ritual, the party found the corridor getting darker and darker, almost as if it was absorbing the light of their sunrods. Suddenly, without notice, a shadow slime dropped from above. The creature proved to be little match for the party as it was already surrounded. However, it could have been more troubling as it had the ability to extinguish all light sources, even magical ones.
