Bears...ohh my

Departing Vantus Academy, the party returned to it's journey to Grandwood Forest. Along the way, they continued to spread the word of Richard's victory and the return of the Academy. With the number of people heading toward Pontylvar, Richard will have a sizable army soon, and even more mouths to feed.

Finally arriving at the forest, the party was able to locate an ancient, overgrown road and follow it in. Based on the massive size of the forest, the map Stephen provided was not as detailed as initially thought.

Several hours in, they came upon a shattered tower and a fork in the road. Peaking out from the tower, a massive Dire Bear saw the party and attacked. Behind it, it's mate also joined the fray. Moving into position to meet the enemy, Rudy found a dryad was also also living in the area. A second dryad was eventually located as well.

The huge bears were fearsome in both their ability to do damage and to absorb it. It was several rounds before a bear was beaten enough to attempt to flee. Alexander put an end to it's attempt.

With one bear down, the field opened up a bit and the party went to work taking out the pair of dryads. Making short work of them, they were able to concentrate on the final bear, who also attempted to flee, but was killed in the process.

Searching the tower, the party located a pair of magic items, and a regular bear that was badly injured. It immediately took a liking to Mara, and an equal dislike to Ekeraath.

A lively discussion regarding left or right followed. I can't remember which way the party chose, but their path eventually led them to elves. Had they chosen the other path, it would have been Dragonborn.

One final note, was the continuing change in Leenia. She actually asked people to pay her to heal them. Once again, she was invoking the name of Acererak and showing a great deal of respect to Alexander and his sword.
