Opening the door to the next room, the object of their search, their most hated enemy was sitting at a desk. Damakos rose at the interruption, told those in the room to kill everyone and then exiting out a side door.
With reckless abandon, born of his blood rage against Damakos, Rudy sprinted across the room to the door Damakos had exited through. Narrowly dodging several attacks, he arrived at the door to find it locked. Whipping his lock picking tools out, he immediately went to work on picking it.
In the meantime, Ekeraath had taken up a position in the doorway, opposite a Battle Wight. Trading blows, Ekeraath ended up on the short end of the stick, losing a healing surge and being stunned. The other monsters in the room filled in behind the wight in the same way the party filled in behind Ekeraath, all except Alexander.
In the meantime, Rudy had opened the door and raced through. Unfortunately, he hadn't anticipated a pit trap just beyond and found himself face down in a pit of spikes.
Back in the doorway, Alexander screamed for Rudy to get back and help the party as he knocked Ekeraath out of the way and assumed his position in the doorway. Everyone else in the party tossed their ranged attacks through the door, including a Stinking Cloud, by Kuppies, that filled most of the room.
Climbing out of the pit, Rudy's sense of duty to his companions overcame his bloodlust for Damakos and he returned to the fight. Taking on the Crimson Acolyte, just outside the stinking cloud, he made quick work of him.
On the other side of the room, the focus fire of everyone through the door had finally taken care of the Battle Wight and Kuppies' stinking cloud had weakened the Deathpriest of Orcus enough that a couple more rounds of melee resulted in his final breaths.
