Looking through the possessions of the drow, the party came across 2 letters. One addressed to Damakos and the other to Matron Dilaven. Kuppies recognized that as a drow name.
From Dilaven to Damakos
Mighty Damakos,
My queen, the most holy of holies, Lloth has been contacted by your Master, The Maimed God, Vecna. The recent advances of the forces that oppose us has become a concern. Throughout many of the known planes, our domination for the past 1000 years is being challenged. The retaking of the Citadel of the Seasons sang out through the cosmos, reaching everyone, even us deep in the Feydark of the Fey. Additionally, the release of the accursed Stephen Amber has resulted in far more trouble than either of us are aware of.
Our God's feeling is over time we have become sloppy. After ruling for over 1000 years, we have forgotten what it was like to be the prosecuted, hunted races.
I have instructed Elvandia to brief you on problems in the Fey as we represent 2 of the most threatened worlds. While the portals between us have been slowly closing, they do still exist and the fear is if one of us falls to our enemies, the other will not be far behind.
Elvandia is fully briefed on the situation and through a gift of our god, we are able to communicate as needed. Please treat her as you would me. I look forward to restoring our dominance over the lesser races and squashing them as the rats they are.
Matron Dilaven
From Damakos to Dilaven
Matron Dilaven,
How dare you mention my Master's name! Few know of it, and many that did have found the wrong end of an arrow. I will not punish you for this insult, however, do not mention him again. Even many of my followers do not know he is my ultimate master.
The retaking of the Citadel was an unfortunate occurance that was General Karag's fault. His promotion of a bugbear to oversee that region was a mistake he is still paying for today. As for that fool Stephen, he is of no concern to me. He has recruited a group of misfits to help lead the retaking of the mainland. They will fail miserably. I have duped them in the past, and will do so in the future if need be.
Do not worry about this world, I have begun to raise an army of undead to combat the rising threat and anticipate having them ready for combat shortly.
In the meantime, I have dispatched one of my trusted lieutenants, Melech, to represent me, and aid you, in the Fey.
Once I have eradicated the threat here, I will be happy to loan my army to you to clean up your problems.
