Equipment Malfunction

Arriving at the duel, the party was moderately entertained in both a "that's impressive" and a "that's not going to work in reality" sense.

Shortly after their arrival, four practice mannequins animated and began attacking the party. This was an interesting encounter, not because it was hard, or the terrain was difficult. Members of the party took different approaches to it. Kuppies and Leenia thought it would be good to not display all their powers. Ekeraath, on the other hand, thought it was a great opportunity to show off his spiffy new powers, including the ability to spit dragonbreath at a distance. This was something that really made an impression on the students.

The two duelers got in on the action as well, one taking a blow that sent him to the ground. He would have recovered on his own, given enough time, but Leenia healed him with her prayers. Of particular note, she prayed to Acererak instead of Sehanine for healing. She would later deny using the name of Acererak.

As they finished dismantling the practice dummies, a dwarven instructor, Obrak came running to find out what was going on. Right on his tail was Tevors. Both were extremely puzzled at what could have caused this and asked the party to go to the Lost Secrets Library and retrieve a book for them. Giving them a crystal to guild them to the book, the instructors asked them to hurry.
