Vantus Academy

To the surprise of the party, scattered around the countryside were numerous small "gypsy like" villages and encampments. The excitement regarding the news Richard had retaken the city of Pontylvar was overwhelming to most. Many immediately packed up and set their sites on the city. Hoping to help secure it, join Richard's army, or just to have a home.

After two days of spreading the excitement, they arrived at Vantus Academy. Passing through the ruins of the town of Whitton, they found Instructor Tevors waiting at the gates to welcome them.



Wow! I put an image in. Yes, I copied and pasted it from the Wizards doc and that is probably against the rules, but lets face it, this blog sees about 7 visitors.

Anyway, happy to have guests, Tevors gives them a tour of the grounds. Of particular interest to the party was the Hall of Amber. When asked about it, Tevors responded with the following:
"It was dedicated to a wizard, Stephen Amber, of substantial power around 1200 years ago. He had helped the school and surrounding community find and defeat a beast that had been terrorizing them. In the end, the beast was slain and reverted back to the form of a local countryman. Stephen took a ring from his hand and said “This is what caused him to become the monster”"
For those that remembered, this was a reference to the Ring of Eibon in Averoigne.

With the completion of the tour, Tevors took them to Headmaster Marovic's residence. He escorted them upstairs, where they found the Headmaster face down at his desk, asleep. Tevors had to wake him and his response was not favorable, yelling, “Leave me! My work is urgent and my time is valuable. Begone, and take these petitioners with you!”

After that welcome, Tevors escorted them outside. Stating he had administrative duties to attend to, he told them a practice student duel was about to begin and asked that they attend and share any relevant experiences with the duelists. Summoning a student to show them the way, he excused himself.
