Morbius' Study

Passing through the door, this room was obviously Morbius’ study. A small library of books lines one wall with a large map of the world hanging on another. A large fireplace filled the last wall. There was a large desk in the center of the room. Various macabre objects are strewn throughout: dissected body parts, things in jars, etc.

While examining the library, Kuppies found a small book containing 2 rituals, Discern Lies and Cure Disease. During a thorough search of the room, Rudy found a hidden compartment in the bottom of one of the bookcases. It contained the remnants of a journal.

Much of the journal was rotting away, other parts of it contained rituals that were written using a code only Morbius knew.
However, there were several parts that were legible and intact enough to read. They were written in an ancient language that Kuppies glasses were required to read.

At the beginning of the book:
“Success! After eliminating Ayola and conquering this pathetic city, Acererak has recognized me and promoted me to my rightful place as one of his lieutenants. He has given me access to a portion of his Tower in the Shadowfell and shared several rituals with me.”

Several pages in:
“What a truly serendipitous discovery today. While constructing my vault beneath the city, we stumbled on a far more ancient structure. Passing through the pillared room, I found a Sentinel. I did not know if they were real or only legend, apparently, they are real. I look forward to spending a great deal of time interrogating it and learning how it survives in that jar it calls a body.”

In the middle of the book:
“One of the tests of my master was to imbue a rod with part of my soul. This proved more challenging than I expected, as removing only part of my soul was difficult. But I have succeeded. The rod was provided by him and can now be used to access my portion of the Tower without a ritual. I suspect all of his lieutenants have similar rods. I know I have seen that wretch Simon with one.”

Toward the end of the book:
“Accursed Harpers! They infiltrated my palace, sabotaged my experiments, and using some artefact provided by the goddess Sehanine, were able to destroy much of my army. They paid dearly, but the damage was already done. I fear I will not be able to maintain my control of the city.”

The final legible page:
“All is lost. The city has fallen and I have been forced to seal myself in this vault. Worse yet, Acererak does not accept failure. My rod still allows me access to his Tower, but I do not know if that will last and besides, hiding right under his nose is not likely to last long. While I can hide from the people above, I do not think there is a plane I can access that will hide me from Acererak.”
