Returning to the ancient tunnels from the Tower of Acecerak, the party returned to the room with the pool and the last door they had not opened. Kuppies easily solved the final "connect the colors" puzzle to open the door.
The hallway beyond the door was very peculiar. Numerous holes, varying in diameter from 3 to 6 inches, randomly lined the walls and ceiling. After examining the holes and determining some of them interconnect, the party proceeded down the hall and found themselves in a room. On their left, a large oak door, in the far corner, a small staircase leading up.
Halfway across the room, the sound of hundreds of fingers pounding on the ground had the party on their toes. Before they knew it, numerous disembodied hands began pouring into the room, from the stairs across the room, from the hallway behind them, and from the holes in the ceiling and walls.
As the hands continued to fill the room, they swarmed the party, immobilizing several of the members. Feeling overwhelmed, the party struck back, and after realizing many of the claws/hands were minions, they made full use of their abilities to address them and then focused on the larger, more powerful groups.
After finally defeating the Crawling Claws, Alexander was the only one brave enough to search some of the holes. After finding a set of Burning Gauntlets, everyone got in on the action and a pair of Flaying gloves was also located.
In the meantime, Rudy was focused on the large oak door. Much to Ekeraath's disappointment, Rudy was able to pick the lock, rather than allowing Ekeraath to bash it down. Passing through the door a short hallway was revealed, ending in another door.
