The Sewers of Trelib Part 2

Descending the ladder, the party found themselves in a chamber similar to the one above, the sewage fells through the center drain and rans down 4 more ramps to drains that took it away. There were 4 large pillars holding the room up.

In the corner next to them, 3 men were pinned down, taking cover, behind one of the pillars. They were engaged in combat with a group of humanoid like beings across the wall from them. As the party arrived, one of the men went down, probably forever. Looking across the room, one of the creatures was performing a ritual in front of one of the walls.

Kuppies realized, through his research regarding other planes, the creatures were either Githyanki or Githzerai. The githyanki and the githzerai were once a single race—the gith—enslaved by mind flayers, but they split into two races after winning their freedom. Whereas the githzerai fled to the Elemental Chaos and became introspective and monastic, the githyanki fled to the Astral Sea and became xenophobic and militaristic. They built citadels and armies, and from there they set out to conquer everything in their path.

Immediately jumping into action, Leenia rushed to aid the second of the three men as he took another blow that almost ended his life. The rest of the party quickly began crossing the room to engage the Gith. As they approached, the ritual finished, and the Gith retreated through a portal.

The remaining man, who was still engaged in combat, rushed past the party, and lept through the portal. As he passed them, he shouted, "Follow me, they cannot be allowed to escape.

As the man jumped through the portal, Alexander could not help himself. Whether it was the immediate kinship he fletl toward the man, or the bloodlust of the sword, Alexander did not know, but he race after him, leaping into the unknown.
