The Werewolf of Sylaire

After warning the party of the sword, Sephora informed them she was aware of their need for the Sword of Sylaire and asked for their assistance before giving it to them. A former apprentice, Malachie was recently turned into a werewolf and was now stalking the area with a pack of wolves. Sephora directed the party to a cabin, northeast of the area she inhabits.

After an hour of so of traveling, the party located the cabin. Carefully approaching and entering it, they found it empty, with a ragged bed in one corner and rags scattered throughout. Mara opted to remain outside, covering the rear of the party. She elected to climb on top of the porch to get a better view of the area.

As the cabin was searched, Malachie, in his human form, from a hidden vantage point in the surrounding woods, launched a massive fireball at it. The front half of the cabin was instantly engulfed in flames. Mara lept from the roof, receiving only minor damage, while many inside were also able to avoid the full brunt of the inferno.

Racing out of the building, Alexander ordered the party to spread out in case another massive blast was on its way. Instead, a massive wolf and a pack of smaller wolves came bounding out of the woods and immediately attacked. The party, being spread out, was not able to employ their regular tactics and as such, many found themselves in unfamiliar positions. Both Mara and Leenia found themselves in melee combat. Fortunately for the party, they were able to recover and overcome the wolves.

Rudy removed Malachie's head in case Sephora needed proof, but she had observed everything remotely. As promised, she handed over the Sword of Sylaire. Much to Ekeraath's delight, the powers it possessed were extensive and powerful. Additionally, Rudy opted to leave the head behind, but not before removing some of the hair in hopes it would be useful as a spell component or in trade.

With Sephora's thanks, the party departed south, following the river, toward Ximes. Hoping to acquire a potion of time travel there.
