After several days on the road, the party finally approached Perigon. As night began to fall, a red comet shot across the sky and lit up the land, giving everything a red hue.
Arriving in town, the party attempted to locate Luc le Chaudronnier, the owner of the ring. It was common knowledge, he, along with a group of men-at-arms were out hunting the creature. The noise of battle quickly drew the party to a clearing outside of the Abbey of Perigon. There, they found a badly hurt Luc and several other dead or injured men-at-arms. Luc tells them the beast just stole the ring from him and pointed to it as it scaled the wall to the abbey, entering the window of the top most room, the room of Abbot Theophile.
Charging up the tower and into his room, the party disturb and anger the Abbot. As they callously search his room, he becomes more and more agitated and begins pacing. Walking across the room, the Abbot eventually enters the red light from the comet, immediately transforms into the beast, and attacks the party.
He was of little challenge as the party had had a full rest prior to the encounter. After killing the creature, it returned to the Abbot's original form, except with the ring on his hand.
At this point, there was a bit of discussion, Alexander wished to head down the tower and explain to the town what had transpired. Ekeraath saw no need and began the ritual to summon the tomb of Stephen. Alexander settled for leaving a short note.
Touching the Ring of Eibon to the viper's tail, the serpent uncoiled enough for Ekeraath to slip the ring onto the tail. The ring slowly moved up the viper's body until it encircled the head like a collar. Once again, the tail was in the viper's mouth.
Once that was accomplished, Ekeraath anointed the sword with the potion of time travel and as the blade began to glow bright gold, hit the mirror with it. Instantly, the ring, mirror, and sword shattered into thousand's of pieces and an amber mist enveloped the party.
