The Cult of the Infernal Fang

A little over a thousand years ago, a group of Tieflings approached us, the heads of the Wizard’s Tower, and asked for our assistance. They asked us to remove the devil influence from them, to undo the bargain their ancestors had made. At first we refused, none of us wished to put ourselves between these people and the devils that had cursed them.

However, our ego got the best of us. After all, we had created cities that flew, and even conquered death. So we began our research. All of us dedicated much time to researching a potential ritual to help them. Even to reduce the influence of the devilish curse would have been a victory.

At last, we found what we believed would cure them of the curse. 13 volunteers arrived at our tower, in the Great Desert, for the final test. It was a long, difficult ritual that required many wizards and rare components. As we neared the end, one of the 13, Morthos, stepped forward and invoked a magical artefact. No one knew he had planned to use it and when he did, the effect of the ritual was reversed, instead of removing the devilish influence, it removed what was left of their humanity and left us trapped in a room of devils. Several of us were killed in the ensuing battle, and the rest barely escaped with their lives.

We found out later, that Morthos was the leader of The Cult of the Infernal Fang They are a terrible splinter of Tiefling society, formed thousands of years ago, the Cult has long had one and only one purpose, to remove the last vestiges of humanity from the tiefling race and rule this world with their infernal power.
