As you explore the city, over your first couple days, you learn many things.
First, the city is larger than any city you have ever seen. The population is diverse and respects each other, unlike the island, were each race was paranoid of each other. There does seem to be very few Dragonborn. Tieflings are even more rare, but they are shown the same respect as everyone else. In addition to Richard's family, there are a few other noble families in the city. For the most part, they act as advisors and sometimes, opposition, to the crown. Interestingly enough, many believe Plato, the head of one of the houses, also leads the Thieves Guild. He adamantly denies any knowledge of the guild.
The city is not prosperous, but the populace has enough to survive. The influx of people has put a strain on the suppliers, but the merchants are doing well and do not appear to be price gouging.
There are encampments setup outside the gates and people are allowed to freely enter and leave the city. The excitement regarding the call to arms has raised levels of cooperation even between rivals. Friendly sparing and training locations have been setup throughout the encampments. Inexperienced and experienced fighters alike visit the stations hoping to enhance their skills or learn something new.
There are temples to most of the Gods you know, and a few you haven't heard of. All religions are treated with respect by others, with the exception of those worshiping evil. News the Citadel has been freed has been received with much excitement and enthusiasm. Several groups of pilgrims have already left to help restore it to its former glory. Rumor has it, it has been completely cleaned and a re-dedication is planned for sometime in the near future. As the Saviors of the Citadel, you are treated with enormous respect throughout the city and even more in the religious quarter. Knowledge of the Citadel is still in short supply. Some preaching/instruction by Leenia will almost certainly result in many more pilgrims heading out and helping restore the citadel.
News the Island was not a legend and was real has also raised the excitement level. While the council that sent you on your first mission is there, they have made no effort to contact you with the exception of Harbek the dwarf. He happily greeted you at the dock with Richard and Rard and has been in all the war councils with you. His tactical advice has been sound and he will most likely be a general in the uncoming war.
While all the races are cooperating and existing in a peaceful manner, they still prefer their own kind and environment. The elves and eladrin spend a great deal of time in the forest a couple miles outside town. The dwarves have a large system of tunnels underneath the city and beyond. Rumor has it the Dragonborn have a small settlement somewhere in the area. The humans, halfings, and tieflings predominantly live in the city proper with the exception of those who have recently arrived and are living in the tent city that has sprung up outside the walls.
There is a small library dedicated to magic and rituals. There does not seem to be a high level of magic, arcane or divine. Over time, the knowledge to cast spells and invoke rituals has slowly faded away. The book Kuppies and Leenia received from Stephen far outstrips any knowledge contained in the town. Many spell components are rare and will be difficult to come by.
Based on your observations, all of the party members are certainly in the top 5% in their respective classes/skillsets.
