Getting out of the Dungeon

Returning to the room with the vats, the party planned to rest. During the time, Alexander's curiousity got the best of him and he stuck his hand into one of the vats of iridescent liquid. As he removed his hand from the liquid, the iridescence continued and his hand now permanently glows. While everyone else rested, Kuppies was charmed by Simon who snuck down to the dungeon via a second trap door located in the Chapel area. By time the party tracked them down, Kuppies was strapped to the altar and Simon was preparing to sacrifice him. Alexander, recklessly, began chasing Simon, who was fleeing into the indoor forest. Eventually, the insanity of chasing Simon into the forest and potentially facing the great hunt overwhelmed Alexander's recklessness and he returned to the party and back to the dungeon.

Resuming their exploration of the dungeon, the party decided to complete their knowledge of the eastern section. As they approached the final room, they entered a long, cold hallway. Several rows of small doors lined it and opening some of them revealed corpses with their brains neatly removed. Entering the room to the south, the brain collector was busy removing the brain of another individual. Once again, Alexander wanted to race into combat and did so. If the party had not initiated combat, they would have been able to leave without violence. The brain collector was no match for the party.

Moving to the west and through the large room they had fallen asleep in, the party found numerous smaller rooms with a maze of hallways surrounding them. Several of the rooms where empty, some of the other contained an imprisoned imp, a gateway to the land of the ghouls, a shadow slime, and a pool of acid containing a third ornate silver key suspended in a glass globe. Kudos to Kuppies for creating a tenser's floating disk under the key and easily rescuing it from the acid.

The final room contained an amber golem lion. It wasn't much of a challenge, and after defeating it, the party found they had located the Silver gate. Inserting each of the three keys and turning them simultaneously, the portal opened and the ability to enter Averoigne presented itself. The party proceeded forth and entered Averoigne.
