After helping Rard and Richard mop up the remains of Damakos' forces, the heroes turned their attention to the only lead they had, the small journal they had taken off Damakos' body. Unfortunately, none of them could read it, nor could any of their easily accessible allies.
Falling back on their allies, they headed for the Citadel of the Seasons. Erdan was extremely happy to greet them and offer his assistance. Unfortunately, he and his resources were unable to assist. It should be noted that the heroes did eventually remember that Mara was recovering at the Citadel. Rather than check in on her, they avoided her like a high school boy avoids his ex-girlfriend.
Kuppies then suggested visiting Vantas Academy. Their hopes were they might find a lead in the library there. The acting headmaster was very excited at their unexpected arrival but could offer no help. He did suggest they visit the librarian as he was extremely old and knowledgeable. He quickly led them to an ancient, hunched over gnome. How the little man could see or even read was amazing, yet he happily perused the text and while not able to read it, he did offer a little more insight. Several of the letters he recognized as being from an ancient language used by Vecna.
While this only shows up as 2 paragraphs on the blog, this was a great couple of hours. It was like a flashback episode at the end of a great series. All these great clips of previous events. I didn't plan it, but I'm really happy it happened.
