Moving along

This was a copy and paste from my document. I'm too lazy to retype it.

Once you arrive at the camp, you are immediately escorted toward a large tent. On your trip through the encampment, you are hailed and cheered at every turn. Every soldier turns out to raise their weapons in honor of you. You arrival has raised morale and given the men renewed hope and vigor!

Finally making it to the tent, you are shown in to meet with Richard, Rard, and the rest of their war council. There are several men you don’t recognize, but there are some friendly faces. Harbek is happy to see you as is Alec the Harper. Obrak, the other Wizard from the academy is overjoyed to see you. After welcoming you, Richard looks at Ford, “So good to see you again my little friend.” It would seem Ford has some far reaching contacts. Melech, Richard, Stephen… After a few more minutes of catching up, Richard leads you to a map of the surrounding area.

You notice there are several large pieces representing armies just to the south of the Gloriolis mountains. You might remember those mountains were where you met the Good vampires. Richard admits the battle has been tough, but the forces of light have held their own. But that is about to change. Looking at Alec, he steps to the side and cedes the floor to the Harper.

For several weeks, we have been sending scouts south, trying to find a way to flank our enemy and snatch another victory. Last week, we stumbled on something that will crush us if not stopped. Their leader, a vicious tiefling has been building a static portal. We can only guess to where, but everytime they activate it, a large force comes through. We must destroy the portal before they are done testing it. From the descriptions, the tiefling that is leading them is an old friend of yours. Towering nearly 7 feet tall, his missing eye has been replaced by a horrible glowing red orb that is rumored to protect him from certain effects. He has a terrible limp that limits his movement. It looks like he lost a leg and is using a peg as a replacement. His hands are always gloved. Finally, his voice is like that of the dead. Those who have seen him up close swear he has no tongue, yet he speaks, in the most horrible voice imaginable. For those unprepared, it strikes the deepest fear into them, causing many to flee outright.

Richard steps back in. We had hoped you would return, for we believe we have found a way for a small group to come in the back door and get the drop on our enemies. The vast swamp lies directly south of their encampment. While dragons patrol the skies over the portal, someone with say a flying ship could sail it into the swamp, land, and make their way to the portal. Alec believes he has found a space large enough for your ship to land in. Will you help us in this darkest of hours?

Assuming the party says yes, they are provided with details on where to set down and the trail that will lead them most of the way to their destination.

As you prepare to depart, Alec arrives with a fairly large sack. Within are a pair of boots for everyone. He explains that the boots are “Boots of Leaping” They will only last the duration of one encounter before the magic within consumes them, but they allow you to leap up to your speed.

Taking to the air in your ship, you set out for the location Alex described.

With minimal effort, you are able to find the location Alec told you about.

Leenia’s skill with nature quickly turns up a train heading in the correct direction.
After several hours of trekking through mud and muck, several impassable areas, and detours, you find almost a sea of muck in front of you. There are numerous solid spots, but getting to them could be challenging. You have no idea how deep the muck is, nor what lies under the surface.
