Don't let it get away

Chasing after the one that retreated down the steps, the heroes passed through the level where Alexander was experimented on, before descending one more floor to encounter another group of Illithids, and the one that was retreating.

Once again, an impromptu map made on the spot setup an encounter with an interesting twist as the heroes had to decide if getting their weapons was worth the effort. It was in Rudy's eyes, but not anyone else's. It was at this point that Alexander remembered the +1 dagger Rudy had found, probably in our 4th session, that could not be detected, so there was another weapon in play.

As the battle went back and forth, Leenia saw the Hand of Vecna near their equipment and in a fit of unparalleled intelligence, ran up and grabbed it so no one could take it and run away.

And with the defeat of the Illithids, the heroes had obtained the Hand of Vecna.
