Rard's Speech

Finding a quiet area, Rard stepped up and delivered the following speech.
My friends,
It is obvious we disagree on the value of our friend Damakos. Two of you believe he can provide information, or may even have repented. Two others believe he should be murdered, right here, right now, in cold blood. Ekeraath seems undecided, but realizes the gravity of the situation and is willing to put things aside till we escape.
My belief is he has repented and seeks forgiveness. As such, I have placed him under the protection of the crown. Any action taken to harm or kill him will make you an enemy of the crown. And while we do not have the men to spare to hunt you down, you will not be welcomed anywhere myself or my father rule. Should you enter any of those territories, you will be arrested and placed in jail to await trial. The penalty, if found guilty, is death.
Should you not believe he has repented, you can at least recognize the value of the information he knows. Troop placements, troop types, strongholds, we have only seen a small part of the world. He has information vital to our continued revolt against the Darkness and ultimately, our freedom.
Hear me out with an open mind. So far he has made no attempt to injure or betray us. He has even aided us in combat. At a minimum, if he still is the vile creature you suspect he is, he should be brought back and given a fair trial and sentencing.
Turning to Alexander, you my friend have far too much passion in your soul to destroy him and I do not understand why. Revenge? Surely the "Greater good" does not benefit from that. If you truly seek to restore the Harpers, you must realize that sometimes the greater good can be served better by not destroying those that are evil, but by using them. Even if he does return to his path of evil, we have methods to interrogate him that even he would find hard to resist.
Rudy, I know of your hate for him. In your eyes, he has wronged you and who you are cannot allow that to go unpunished. But death, without trial, isn't justice, it is murder. Was his crime against you so brutal that it warrants his death?
I have said my peace. You have amnesty for everything that has happened till now. I understand things look different in the heat of battle, but now is time for intelligent reasoning. I make the following proposal:
Get he and I to the boat. You can bind him there if you wish, and then return. Find the item that Rudy seeks, and find out if the seer he claims is imprisoned in the basement exists. If she does, recover her as she could also provide information vital to our goals.
Alternatively, if you feel the need to watch him every second, let us head straight down to the basement and find the seer together.

Make your choice, but know that there can and will be far reaching consequences if you go against the crown.

At its conclusion, Rudy agreed to not kill Damakos immediately, but did say he would be watching him like a hawk.
