After passing through the teleporter, the heroes were presented with a choice of using their swords or intellect to continue on. Realizing they were running short of healing surges, they opted to try using their brains. Five brain teasers followed.
The first was a simple cross the water puzzle. Using a rope of constriction and rope of climbing, the party successfully crossed.
The second challenge was to cross a bed of hot coals. With only a single ring of fire resistance, a potion of growth, and another ring, this one of reptile control. Easily spotting a fire snake, the party controlled it, and after feeding it the potion of growth, used it as a bridge.
The third challenge was another cross the pit one, this one using a ring of levitation, 10' pole, and rope. Someone levitated using the ring, was pushed out halfway over the pit with the pole, and holding the rope, allowed the others to cross.
The fourth challenge involved a boat and a pair of dire wolves. Getting past the wolves was simple,once you flipped the boat over and stayed underneath.
The fifth and final challenge was to decode the activation word for a folding boat. Fortunately, Kuppies figured it out and finished the last challenge.
What no one knew was that if you were unable to complete a challenge in 15 minutes, it would reset and everyone would lose a healing surge.
