Surprised in the Caves

Arriving at the island under the cloak of fog provided by Erdan, Kuppies deftly navigated the reef packed shoreline, finally finding the secret entrance Rudy had provided them.

Disembarking the boat, Kuppies performed a ritual to make them all appear to look like minotaurs, in the hope it could be used to draw less attention to themselves.

Traversing the tunnels under the prison was fairly easy until they stumbled upon a large cavern, littered with stalagmites and a small stream with a bridge. Cautiously Rudy began to cross. Ekeraath followed along with everyone else.

Halfway across the chamber, a grell descended from the ceiling, attacking Rudy. Before the party knew it, they were half surrounded and not in a tactically sound position. On top of that, the large number of stalagmites interrupted line of site and made it more difficult to assist each other.

Ekeraath managed to manuever himself into a position where he was adjacent to 4 of the creatures. His efforts to defend the others would inflict substantial punishment on his massive frame, but would be appreciated as combat progressed.

Kuppies, bringing up the rear, was attacked from the back by an even large, more cruesome grell. In an effort to quickly get into the fray, Alexander stepped into the stream and promptly sank up to his knees.

In the end, the party did prevail, but needed to spend several healing surges before ascending the stairs in search of their friend, and prince, Rard.
