Duped

With the guards dispatched and their bodies hidden away, the heroes began to search the cells. There was nothing of interest in the west wing of the prison, so they headed across the way.

A short time later, they located the cell with Rard in it. Rudy easily picked the lock and a battered and beaten Rard was assisted out of the cell. Leenia was forced to assist him as he was so badly hurt. Quickly searching the remaining cells, they stumbled on the remains of one of the original guards. Buried in the remains, the heroes found a Green Badge.

Having believed they recovered Rard, they decided it was time to go. Moving quickly and quietly, they passed through the empty guard room and were almost to the door to the access hallway when the Doppleganger struck.

Jabbing a concealed dagger into Leenia's back, the creature ran to the door that opened to the barracks. Racing through it, she began screaming "Intruders!"

Half a dozen minotaurs crashed out of the barracks intent on crushing the party. They were led by the largest minotaur anyone had every seen. Adorning his belt was a dagger of exceptional craftmanship. Realizing they were in deep trouble, the party sprang into action.
Rudy moved to the front of the line and hit the Warden hard, but barely hurt him.
Leenia summoned her astral guardians to plug up the hallway the monsters were coming down.
Alexander complimented that with a wall of fire, filling the hallway with flame and forcing the minotaures to retreat.

Knowing they couldn't hope to defeat all the foes in the barracks, the heroes retreated out the door. While Ekeraath and Rudy kept watch, Leenia and Alexander maintained the Astral Guardians and Wall of Flame. Effectively shutting down access out of the barracks. Thinking quickly, Kuppies used a ritual to convert the door from wood to metal.
