Arriving on the other side of the portal, the heroes found themselves in a small room and were greeted by a Magic Mouth. "Greetings visitors from Idera. The Lady Ariel welcomes you to Sigil, the City of Doors. Congratulations, the Spire and this small house in Sigil are now yours. I have been programmed with knowledge of the city and will do my best to guide you by answering your questions."
Just a side note, I had nothing written for Sigil past this part. Everything going forward was totally winging it.
The party knew they needed an expert weapons maker to craft a new shaft for Whelm, so they asked the Magic Mouth. It referred them to Garth, a goliath weapons maker a short distance away and gave them directions.
Stepping out into the street, Sigil is a city unlike anything, anyone in the party had ever seen, or even imagined. It is shaped like the inside of a donut, so looking up, you can see more buildings and people. The sights and sounds of the city were totally overwhelming to the party and resulted in a skill challenge to find Garth.
I did press the players for more details with their narratives for the challenge and did not allow them to repeat what someone else had done. Everyone did an excellent job and I even had to finally let Adam come up with an effective use for his skills. As part of this challenge, the party hired Wyatt to guild them through the city. This is typically the job of a tout.
