Exploring the Mountain

Exiting the room of silver spheres, the party retraced their steps and went down a corridor they had previously skipped. Sloshing through the muck, they ascended a short staircase and entered a room with 5 golem-like creatures lining the far wall. They each had a large number painted on their chest: 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13.

Number 5 stepped forward and a magic mouth told the party, "One of us does not belong. You have 1 minute to answer." Several party members jumped on the answer of 9, realizing it was the only non-prime number. The golems stepped aside and allowed the party to pass without incident.

Ascending another short staircase, a blackened portculus blocked their way. Ekeraath stepped to the front and grabbed the gate, expecting to easily hoist it open. Much to his suprise, a black pudding had wrapped itself around the bars, and enveloped him as soon as he touched it. The creature was easy to defeat, but the tight quarters and the fact the pudding eventually ended up on Rudy, resulted in a change that presented an interesting challenge.

After finally lifting the portculus, the heroes rounded a bend into a massive cavern. The floor dropped away revealing a pool of boiling mud. Numerous, large, round, wooden disks hung from the ceiling. The party devised a fairly clever way to cross and only Leenia fell into the boiling mud when a massive mud geisure erupted next to the disk she was moving to.
