Ascending the long stairwell near the throne, the heroes entered another massive room. This time, it was littered with open pits, all of which appeared empty. There was a long table in the back of the room with a half elven body on it. It was still alive. Several sarcophagi were scattered throughout the room. There were a maze of 5 foot wide walkways that led to the center of the room. There were 4 balconies around the room, each with a massive statue on it. In the center of the room, Simon is waiting for them.
“You have advanced much since we tangled in my family’s mansion, I am impressed. Even more so that you were able to free my moronic brother Stephen. Did he ask you to kill me? Will you be surprised when I tell you, you aren’t the first assassins he’s sent after me. Yes, you are assassins. Like it or not. Does that bother you? Come now noble dragonborn and handmaiden of Sehanine do you have it in you to strike me down in cold blood? If I offered no resistance, what would you do with me?
And you Eladrin, what would you give for information regarding this. Dangling from his hand, you see a medallion with your family insignia on it. From the distance, you cannot be sure, but it could even be the one your father was wearing when he was killed. Perhaps I had a reason for trying to kidnap you when you were in the mansion.
And what of my master, the Great Acererak? What are his plans now that his lieutenants are back? Do you dare even dream what his goals are?
So many questions, none of which will be answered with my death. But then, of course, I intend for you to die and serve me for eternity!
