A History Lesson

After reading a bit from the new DMG about flashbacks and making connections to NPCs, both good and bad, I decided to try it.

So we did a little flashback exercise where everyone played a guard on duty. As the shift wore on, drinking and gambling took over and eventually the guards were not paying attention.

Shortly after that, an invading force of undead, led by Simon Amber, attacks the town, and kills everyone within. Unfortunately for the guards, they were brought back to Simon's lab and experimented on, for centuries.

In the end, they all were reanimated as Direguards, with the exception of Varis, a half elf. For whatever reason, his soul and body were able to better resist Simon's torments.
