Escaping the Tower

Returning to the arrival chamber, the teleportation control mechanism was gone and once again the heroes felt the overwhelming presence of Acererak. It was not as paralyzing as the last time, since they were more experienced and had felt it before, but it was still crushing in it's power. The eyes embedded in the visage of Acererak on the large double door glowed bright red as his voice boomed into their minds.

"You have destroyed another of my lieutenants, and thrown my plans into disarray for the last time." With that, a small skull passed through the door, the presence of Acererak departed and the party knew this was not him, but simply a
construct made to mimic him.

Still, they wasted little time in pinning it down and constantly mmobilizing it. Keeping it within melee limited it's ability to use powers and removing it's ability to move kept it in one place. Had they not done so, the flying speed of the creature would have kept it out of their reach and made the encounter much more dangerous. Instead, the creature was quickly dispatched and with that, the teleportation mechanism returned to the center of the circle.
