After being escorted back to the elven camp, the party waited to meet with King Adran. They were required to leave their weapons and their armor behind when meeting with him.
After welcoming Mara, Leenia, and Kuppies; Adran dove right into what has been happening:
“We find ourselves meeting under grave circumstances. The dragonborn nation we have allowed to live here, in peace, has turned on us and prepares for war! It began approximately six weeks ago. The game in the forest began to disappear. Then, several of our patrols did not return. Fearing an incursion from outside the forest, I dispatched several squads to investigate.
It was not easy, but the remains of one of the patrols was found, all of them were dead. Based on the report given me, they were taken by complete surprise, which tells me they knew their enemies, as nothing could sneak up on them in this forest. The damage done to them matched damage dealt by dragonborn weaponry, including acid, fire, and other forms of their breath weapon.
I immediately dispatched a representative to the dragonborn Scion with this evidence, he adamantly denied such a thing and instead told us he had a patrol littered with elven arrows that did not return alive. He believed we intended to expel his people from what they consider their “home”.
A week later, several more patrols did not return and an investigation found remains of only 2 of them, both dead at the hands of dragonborn weapons. This time, two dead dragonborn were found with the bodies.
With this new evidence, I arranged to personally meet with Scion Nadarr. Once again, he was less than receptive to my evidence. In return, he had similar claims, which I was forced to dismiss. With that, our relations strained to the breaking point and our meeting ended. I believe he intends to attack and we plan to be prepared.
