Entering the tower, the party found themselves in one large room that was broken by a staircase partway across the room. At the top of the staircase was a truly horrifying creature. It was the size of the dragons you have fought, but clearly undead, with a malevolent light burning in its eye sockets. The denuded bones forming the creature clearly do not match, and the skull shows rivets where the lower jaw and various horns have been attached. It immediately attacked.
Racing forward, Ekeraath, Rudy, and Alexander charged the Bone Mongrel Dracolich. Dealing substantial damage before it attacked, they were also able to withstand the bone shard breath weapon it unleashed upon them.
Holding back, Mara, Kuppies, and Leenia were surprised when 4 Dragonkin kobolds stepped out of alcoves that were against the back wall. Rarely engaging in melee, they were certainly out of their element when the kobolds advanced.
As the martial characters continued to hammer on the dragon, who missed his attack, Kuppies and Mara both took substantial damage. Although Mara was able to dish as much as she took.
The dragon proved resilient and continued the battle by using its Horrid Presence, which everyone in range was affected by. Dazing and pushed away, the dragon bought itself some time and gave the kobolds additional opportunities against Kuppies and Mara.
Changing back into battle, Ekeraath, Alexander, and Rudy finally managed to destroy the dragon and rushed back to assist Kuppies, who was down to 5 hit points, and Mara. Without some exceptional healing by Leenia, Kuppies and Mara might have succumbed to the kobolds.

Even if Joel misses on 95% of Leenia's damage spells, he always does an awesome job of putting some nice healing together. I think this may be the first time I didn't soak up one of those heals, but that doesn't make your work any less spectacular.
