The first adventure...Part 2

Here is what the players saw when the arrived at the shipwreck:

As you approach the reported location of the crashed ship, you are able to find a hidden vantage point that allows you to survey the entire beach. The first thing you notice is the ship is totalled. Half of it is washing away and the other half is ripped asunder to the point you can see they have stripped it bear. They will not be leaving the island unless they are rescued.

At the same time, you see they have found cover in a cave just off the beach. According to your map, this is the cave they are not supposed to enter.

You can see 2 guards at the entrance to the 10 foot wide opening leading into the cave.

There is a location approximately 10 feet above them that someone might be able to descend to from above without being noticed. In addition, there are several other locations within arrow range that a person might be able to enter undetected. Finally, there is one trail leading down to the beach. The guards would see you long before you would be able to attack them at range.

There is a bonfire 30 feet below your position that has several kobold corpses burning in it.

This promised to be an interesting encounter as the party had tactical advantage and surprise. Their goal was of course to take out the guards without alerting anyone/thing in the cave.

The players spent a fair amount of time debating tactics and options. In the end Damakos spoke up and suggested the Dragonborn speak in draconic calling for help with treasure. The stupid greedy guards took the bate and were quickly dispatched.

This led to one of the more humorous exchanges between the players and DM as they attempted to interrogate one of the kobolds. The highlight of this was when the players asked the kobold how many monsters were in the cave and it said 3. It wasn't long till they realized the kobold could only count to 3, so 3 represented any number higher than 2.
