An Unexpected Friend

Heading toward the house, the heroes passed an alley when they head someone call for help. Being heroes, they had no choice but to respond. It was a trap.

A being with one eye missing was waiting for them at the end of the street, 2 large creatures fell in behind the heroes. The being, a servant of Vecna asked for the return of the Eyes of Acererak. Not knowing Rudy had taken them, the party played dumb and was quickly attacked.

We didn't bother to run this encounter, just hand wave it as the creatures were not a match for the heroes. With Vecna's servants slain, the heroes found the entrance to the alley blocked by a large force of drow. They were insisting that the party accompany them to meet with the High Priestess of Lolth that oversees the city of Ikemmu. Knowing this was not in their best interest, the party resisted.

As tension was building and it was becoming obvious a fight was about to begin, a door into the alley opened and a tiefling stepped out saying, "Come with me if you want to live." Rudy immediately resisted, but Alexander spotted something about the man that made him willing to put everyone's lives into his hands. Ekeraath had to carry Rudy, but they made their escape.
