Entering the Tower

The heroes searched the outside of the tower for a way to covertly enter it, unfortunately, they did not succeed and faced a fairly easy encounter at the gates. This was a skill challenge the party failed. Had they succeeded, they could have entered without combat.

Exploring the tower, they saw several things.
They stumbled upon a chamber used for sacrifices and animating undead. Fortunately, it was not currently in use. There was a large skull with Ruby eyes placed high above a blood stained altar. Various implements, such as sacrificial daggers were scattered around. The altar had several channels cut into it to direct blood into a hole in the floor. Wisely, they left the room undisturbed.

Ducking into another tunnel, to avoid a group of undead, they recognized Simon’s body , carrying his head and spine like a flail. He was clearly mindless undead.
