Snarla

Heading back, the party decided to investigate the spinning tunnel. Approaching it, they noticed it was coated in something wet. Not bothering to attempt to identify it, the heroes cautiously entered the tunnel, and most of them promptly fell. Once everyone was inside, a flaming arrow was launched from the far side of the hall, igniting the wet coating and burning everyone. The fire burned for 3 rounds before going out, and the damage was minimal.

At the end of the hallway, the heroes passed through another door into a room with a solitary old woman, sitting at a table, reading. Eventually, it was learned that the woman's name was Snarla. She, and her companions, Ctenmirr amoung them, had been exploring the mountain when they were attacked and defeated. She was imprisoned here, with the mind flayer preventing her exit.

After some discussion, the party decided to escort her out of the mountain. She would wait for them and they would all head off together. In return, she said she was an accomplished ritualist and handed Kuppies and Leenia a book with all rituals, up to and including level 9.

Exiting the dungeon, the party could barely locate the remains of the sphinx. It had been torn to pieces by the Pursuers.
