Clues

Through the course of their investigation, the party learned the following.

The victim was hit, in the head, with a blunt weapon like a staff or rod.

Further observation of the body reveals a small puncture wound in the neck.

Searching the area, you find a small pin with a small amount of dried blood on it. There is also another substance on the needle.

It is likely the other substance on the needle is poison.

Serbahn's journal leads you to believe his wife, Roduka, was carrying on an affair and that Serbahn was close to finding out whom the other person was. He intended to kill them.

Attack group was hired by Rannos. He can be found at the Tailless Dragon

Valthrun is an assassin and would know more about the poison.

Valthrun identifies the poison as Soulrot Nectar. Soulrot Nectar prevents resurrection.

Soulrot Nectar can be made in one of 2 ways. First, it is a byproduct of the creation of undead. Second, it can be concocted with several plants and herbs native to the Shadowfell.

It is possible Storm was having an affair with Roduka.

Serbahn had ruffled many feathers since arriving at the War Council. Chief among them was Storm, leader of the Shifters. They became bitter rivals from the start.

Roduka is next in line to take over leadership of the Shadar Kai.

The Deva do not appreciate the recklessness of the Shadar Kai, Serbahn in particular.

The Githzerai understand the Shadar Kai, but are still not happy being in close proximity to a people controlled by their passions.

The Goliath have a low opinion of the Shadar Kai as they are constantly causing problems.

Finally, the party received a note asking them to meet someone, late one night, for additional information.
