Taking the Eastern Tower

Hasborac's men got the party within 50 feet of the tower and bid them good luck. The decision was made that Rudy, Kuppies, and Alexander would climb the rope and Ekeraath, Leenia, and Mara would stopper up the door.

Rudy threw the grapple without incident and it went undetected by the sentry and watch who were stationed above the tower. Unfortunately, Alexander slipped on the rope and went crashing to the ground, alerting the guards. Rudy and Kuppies double timed it to the roof. They made it to the top in time to prevent the lighting of the signal fire. Rudy disarmed one of them, and Kuppies hit one with a wave of thunder, sending it crashing to the ground, where Mara was waiting to finish it off.

With Alexander's crash to the ground, Ekeraath's plan to nail the door shut went out the window and he bashed it open. As he did so, the Hobgoblin commander on the other side had the same thought and they both startled each other enough to miss their opportunity for surprise.

Back on the roof, Alexander finally completed the climb, in time to witness several other guards running up the stairs. With combat fully engaged, Kuppies' new melee style and leather armor allowed him to wade into the action and compliment the efforts of Alexander and Rudy. The three of them quickly dispatched the hobgoblins on the roof and raced down the stairs to aid with the encounter in the basement.

On the ground, the mountain that is Ekeraath blocked up the door and little had occurred in combat. However, with Mara and Leenia now poised behind him, and the attackers from the roof racing down the stairs, the remaining guards and their leader quickly fell.

Wasting no time, the party went outside and cut the lines on the catapults, rendering them useless.

We would be remiss if it wasn't documented somewhere that Jeff was on FIRE this night!! He hit every attack roll in the first encounter except for 1 and stayed at that level of rolling all night long.
